There had been rumors floating around that the BlackBerry Storm 2 could come out as early as this month and that it would definitely be out by the end of June, however those dreams have been dashed as Lowell McAdams, the top executive for the venture of Verizon Communications Inc and Vodafone Group Plc, officially stated in a webcast earlier today that the BlackBerry Storm 2 would come out on Verizon in about 6 months.
This pushes a release of the the next touch screen only BlackBerry to a late Fall if not early Winter release at the earliest. I just hope that Verizon certifies an OS update for the original BlackBerry Storm before then…

Is verizon holding up RIM from releasing the Storm 2? Thats not good for RIM.
How could Verizon possibly hold RIM up from releasing the Storm 2 if that is what RIM wants to do? RIM could always go to Sprint or one of the Canadian based CDMA carriers if they don’t like Verizon’s schedule. They could have created the Storm 2 as a GSM variant.
At the end of the day, mobile carriers, Verizon included, only really control what happens on their network.
I just read something on reuters about this and it actually makes sense. My guess is that the Storm 2 will come out around the same time this year as the original storm came out last year.
We know that the Tour is coming out this summer to do battle with the next iPhone and following it up with a Storm 2 right before Christmas will give Verizon very good coverage and penetration.
Don’t really care, lovin’ my Storm now. Maybe next year I’ll upgrade.
I’m due to upgrade in August. How perfect is that? Then I’ll have both to play with
