My youngest brother just graduated from college this past Saturday, and, on Sunday had a graduation party / open house where I was able to see a lot of old friends and family that I don’t regularly see.
One of the more interesting conversations that I got into was if there was anyway that one could run BBM on Android or iOS.
There isn’t, of course, but, the meme that seemed to get started was that it would really be cool if there were.
My question to you is, “Should RIM take BlackBerry Messenger cross platform?”
We would love to hear what you think, so, drop us a comment and let us know how you feel…
I don’t know. A lot of people have migrated to WhatsApp just so those of us with different types of phones could message each other.
This is exactly why they should do it. I use WhatsApp almost as much as I use BBM only because I have a lot of friends that moved to the iPhone and to Android phones. WhatsApp isn’t even almost as good as BBM though.
I would have to say no way. This is the one of the features BlackBerry has that adds value to the phone. That’s like the BlackBerry name running on androids.
They probably should have. BBM and the private network it runs on top of could have been the next Twitter. The problem is RIM has fallen so far that many die-hard BBM users have already moved on…
There was a time the answer would have been no way. But, right now, they need to do this. BIG time. WhatsApp isn’t even free and it’s becoming the defacto app for everyone on other platforms. Even folks with Blackberry have WhatsApp installed (so they can talk to people on the other platforms). If BBM is all holding someone, you need a more compelling device.
Guys… you wanna do something right at RIM …. do BBM crossplatform…. you can thank me later 😉
