I wonder why Research in Motion didn’t take the opportunity to officially announce the BlackBerry Storm at CTIA last week?
I understand the concept of not letting the cat out of the bag, however, it seems like a mixed opportunity seeing how Verizon is doing their best to tell the world about the Storm not a full week after the close of CTIA.
First it was an internal BlackBerry Storm video. Then came an actual website. I really don’t see why RIM didn’t just announce the Storm last week.
Because it’s not coming out for awhile.
That’s because you’re a moron.
Because RIM is stupid. This mess with the “bloggers” and Verizon wanting to create hype only confuses consumers. The fact there is not an official announcement is probably one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen from RIM. They are practically leaving everything up in the air so more people can go and buy iPhone 3Gs. It is ridiculous.
I think it was to tease the public…create some buzz…stretch this thing out.
Does anyone think those leaks from VZW, like that internal video for their retail sales team, were not intentional?
I think in some way it is succeeding; look at all the extra attention on the blogs, etc. If RIM/VZW had just announced this thing, it would have been a one or two day story, and then faded until close to launch time. Now the device generates a story a day it seems.
This is more reminiscent of when the Pearl was launched, where rumors and buzz did seem to work.
Let’s face it; one more thing Apple has going for it are all the internet rumors and buzz. This is an attempt to get in on that action.
