Alltel usually lags a few weeks behind Sprint and Verizon when it comes to releasing their branded version of CDMA BlackBerry devices, however, this time around they plan on getting the goods into their subscribers hands just as, if not more, quickly than everyone else.
Alltel this morning announced that the BlackBerry Curve 8330 will be available in Alltel retail stores beginning May 1st. That is next Thursday for those of you not keeping track.
The Alltel BlackBerry Curve is pretty much just like the one coming out on Sprint, both of which, aren’t nearly as locked down as Verizon’s model.

Does anyone know what Alltels network is like? I was just looking at their coverage map and it looks like it covers just about all of the United States. I am on Verizon now, but, like the black color on the Alltel Curve better and it doesn’t have the GPS locked down.
If you live in an area that offers Alltel, you should give them a serious look. They have a very strong network and roam on Sprint and Verizon which is why their coverage is so widespread (having analog also helps). They are also known for excellent customer service. I am considering making the switch from VZW myself as Alltel has the best network in the Carolinas where I live.
I’m on Alltel and it’s a great carrier. The service is great. Also, if you’re looking at this phone, it will have MMS capability. Another added bonus.
Verizon Wireless BB Curve
I am on with Alltel right now…have been for quite some time now…4 years and I highly doubt I’ll ever switch. Their service is absolutely great. I have yet to go somewhere and not have service…while being with people who have other carriers (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint/Nextel, T-Mobile, etc)…so nice to watch everyone trying to get serivce while I’m using my phone! I’m so excited that Alltel has the Curve now! And one of the few companies to have it, presently! The only downfall to Alltel is the late arrival of phones (which this time, we aren’t the late bloomers…woohoooooo for Alltel!). But I have accepted the waiting just because their service is awesome! I would highly recommend anyone and everyone to give them a try, because I can promise you’ll love them! 🙂
Alltel will have the curve first. Gauranteed.
yeah alltel is amazing!!! i love it… everytime i need anything they are more than willing to give it to me… but i’m a popular face in the alltel store nearest me because i’m always buying the newest phone!! and i had an htc ppc6800 and i hate it so much except for the touchscreen, programming and ease of use sucks big time! i just ordered my blackberry curve so it’s a bit of a set back in technology but i think i’m gonna like it. it will be my first blackberry
