Adventurous BlackBerry Bold 9700 have been waiting for a leaked version of BlackBerry 6 for a long time, and, I am happy to report that that wait is over… BlackBerry 6 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 has been leaked!
You can find a copy of BlackBerry 6 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 on the following download sites:
Warning… This BlackBerry 6 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 update is an unofficial, unsupported, leaked version of the BlackBerry operating system. Install at you own risk! If you decide to give it a go, for heaven’s sake, back up your device first!
I’m a big fan of stability and official versions of anything, commercial or freeware. I hope the leaked OS 6 is sign of progress in creating a proper version I can upgrade my 5.0.0.442 (on a BB Bold 9700) to. 🙂
I have been hassling my carrier for news on OS 6. The vast majority I speak to don’t have a clue but the odd one seems to think it will be out in the UK in early December at the earliest. Cant get anything out of Blackberry! hopefully this is the precursor for fun times on my beloved Bold!
This leak is AWESOME. It’s not buggy and works like a charm. It made my 9700 sooo much faster than it ran on OS5. A battery pull literally takes 60 seconds. I’m still purchasing the 9780 though for the double memory. I also want a white Blackberry since it wasnt initially offered on the 9700. The OS takes up just as much space as it did before.
I downloaded the OS6 file yesterday, researched the T-Mobile users bugs, then loaded it. I neeed to use BBAK, but it wasnt a problem. OS6 is running very smoothly, no issues yet. Left me with 90mb after install, and I didnt shrink it. It is visually a step up for sure….but its still just a Blackberry OS. Loving it though…glad it was finally leaked. I was ready to get the 9780, glad I didnt waste the $!
Thanks for the adventurous spirit James and Ron C. I now have courage to upgrade. I do agree that RIM really does need to listen to fan sentiments. There are diehards here who genuinely love the BB but are in danger of alienation. I’ve temporarily reverted to an iPhone 3GS and eventually want to try out the Android OS, but will certainly make a point of upgrading to OS6. Thanks again.
Sure thing! Im a BB nut…but have tried iPhone 3gs & Android OS’s when waiting for OS6 to drop. Im on T-Mobile…and was REAL CLOSE to jumping over to AT&T for the Torch, glad I didnt. I feel like this is a new phone really. I was spotty at first too..this is my 1st install of an unofficial OS…but it is awesome. Good luck with your upgrade!
The one thing I haven’t understood from this article is if these “leaks” represent what the actual OS will be. Do they, for example, come from OS6 developers? Why I ask is unlike even Microsoft and controversial Apple, RIM is usually remarkably silent on matters concerning their products; like dealing with a robot that’s only programmed to serve you and nothing else! Please help.
