CrackBerry.com called it and BGR confirmed it. The AT&T BlackBerry 8820 is now almost available. At least, we think it is. The 8820 doesn’t appear to be available on AT&T’s site just yet, however, the device should start showing up in stores today.
The North America RIM site at http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/series-detail.jsp?navId=H0,C201 lists only 8800 and 8830.
I have a reliable source that says the 8820 for AT&T will NOT be avaiable untill october 1st because of a delay with at&t.
Been out in the UK for a few weeks now.
Okay, no carriers running UMA yet.. But soon.

Generic Access Network (GAN) aka Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA)
Another phone which seems be selling well to make use of UMA:

Not that RIM ever seems to be in hot and heavy competition YET. Not that the BB and the iPhone are targeted to the same audience CURRENTLY. But what new technology does RIM have up it’s sleeve to compete with the others? This must be the reason why we’re seeing RIM transform the BB’s into more consumer friendly devices, at least for most providers which allow BB devices as RIM designs without crippling and function removal.
I want my G Phone
I already got mine from M1 in Singapore.
This is fine phone with good features but has a real flaw.
It can call 911 while locked. Pretty annoying to have the law show up at your house from sitting on your phone.
I blogged about it here if you are interested:
