Word on the street is that a new BlackBerry Storm like device code named BlackBerry Monaco is headed in to production and could very well be the BlackBerry Storm3. The BlackBerry Manaco will sport a 1Ghz processor, a 3.7 inch touchscreen (no surepress), 512 Mb of ram, and run BlackBerry 6. The rumor also says that the BlackBerry Manaco could hit CDMA networks (namely Verizon) sooner rather than later.
Seeing how we have been hearing rumors of BlackBerry Storm3 for some time, there could be a lot of truth behind this one. Let’s hope…
I really think RIM needs to release the device pictured above with a slide down keyboard like the Torch. A huge screen, no Surepress garbage, a trackpad, and a vertical pull-down keyboard on Verizon would be a killer device that neither the iPhone or Android would match. RIM needs something to make a splash because right now, I see a lot of people waiting to jump ship for that iPhone on VZW, and I’m personally looking at the HTC Thunderbolt as my own next phone if RIM doesn’t improve on my rather poor Storm 1 and 2 experiences.
September and still with OS 6? Too little, too late. Going to be DOA by then.
Useless. Way too late.
It is sad. All new phones are shipping with 1.2 GHz processors. I guess RIM finally ran through the stock of 624 MHz processors.
The real shame is we are starting to see Dual core processors and by September that will be the new standard and yet again RIM will be behind the times.
Hopefully they will transition from a hardware into a software company and license BES to other devices and BBM.
everyone seems to forget it is all about battery life with blackberry. rim could put out a dual core smartphone but if it only ran for six hours would you use it? thoughts to consider
Blackberry the next Palm……
Not only too little too late, but without a much better AppWorld, and a forward facing camera, it still is lightyears behind. The Storms have me so jaded anyway, I cant trust Rims ability to get touchscreen technology right. When even their Torch turned out to be a dud.
You need to keep in mind that BB is working on making Adroid apps compatible with the new Storm/Monaco: All other smart phones will be “dumb” if they can’t utilize apps from different phone makers, and Android apps have become more numerous that even Apple apps. Versatility will be the key word by 2012: “Can I use a variety of apps on this phone like the BB Storm/Monaco?”
