Word on the street is that the Verizon BlackBerry Thunder will launch on October 8th. I am still not completely sold on a BlackBerry with only a touch screen, however, I am so getting one of these when they come out.
I have to say that I am fairly skeptical about the BlackBerry Thunder launching in less than two and a half months. Granted the BlackBerry Bold has been delayed a couple of times however, we’ve seen a lot of press about it and the Bold is prominent on the BlackBerry website. You don’t have to look too hard to find celebrities or even AT&T employees that already have the Bold.
I don’t believe that the BlackBerry Thunder, on the other hand, has even been officially announced. We don’t even know if the device will indeed be called the BlackBerry Thunder. I would be willing to bet that if October 8th is the date that the Thunder will launch we will starting seeing some big announcements coming out of Waterloo in the not too distant future…
“While Verizon will get the Thunder first here in the U.S., we now are confirming the tentative launch date will be October 8th if the Thunder can clear the final Verizon hurdles.”
That’s a good dose of provisos there.
I’ve never heard of Fudzilla before. Have they been reliable in the past, Robb?
I don’t understand how the Iphone is released on a single day and they sell over a million in a weekend, and RIM trickles their new units out a few thousand at a time when demand would allow them to sell thousands more. Sure there are more carriers, but that could be coordinated. RIM Marketing is a 2 when the guys at Iphone are a 9.
REV,
I’d heard of them before this but it wasn’t like they were a regular source of BlackBerry News.
Tom,
I stopped trying to figure out what RIM was doing in their marketing and PR groups a long time ago. I will say, however, that they’ve been a lot better at it over the last year or so which is another reason I have a hard time buying the October 8th launch date.
I’ll definitely take a look at the BB 9500, but I still cannot imagine it being either a better toucscreen and multimedia device than the iPhone or a better email solution than a standard BB with keyboard.
I still wish that RIM would release the Bold on VZW at the same time; then I’d really be interested.
Will it be out for tmobile and is anything touchscreen out for tmobile?
this phone is definitely not getting enough meda coverage. it worries me if this will be a let down or actually be worthy of buying like the bold.
