As many regular RIMarkable readers know, one of the primary reasons that I returned my BlackBerry Torch after getting it last year was because the device just seemed underpowered by current standards. Earlier today BlackBerry Torch 2 specifications leaked out, and, one adjective that probably won’t be used when describing Research in Motion’s second stab at a a vertical slider which sports a 1.2 Ghz processor is underpowered.
BlackBerry Torch 2 specs include:
- 1.2GHz processor
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps
- 3.2-inch VGA 640 x 480 capacitive display
- 8GB built-in memory
- 512MB RAM
- Bluetooth 2.1
- GPS
- NFC
- 5MP camera with flash
- Magnetometer
- 1300 mAh battery
- BlackBerry OS 6.1
- OpenGL ES
- 14.6mm thin

What no wifi component?
Start aligning the specs of the various Bold/Torch/Storm/Curve leaks of the past couple days, and there are WAY too many inconsistencies to make sense as a new lineup from RIM. Too many things that make no sense. These leaks to me more look like fanboy wishful thinking than actual specs for upcoming devices and BGR et al have been hoodwinked. every BlackBerry site is desperate for news of new devices…and Photoshop is easy.
What’s next? Today we should get leaks of updated Pearl and Flip/Style models…
I put the potential accuracy of these leaks at best 50%.
If RIM doesn’t move their entire line to faster processors they’ll soon lose market relevance
