Well, what do you know… The BlackBerry Torch, Research in Motion’s flagship BlackBerry device, has been named Laptop Magazine’s Readers Choice Best Smartphone of 2010. The BlackBerry Torch got off to a slow start when initially released, however, ended up leading Research in Motion to a better than expected quarter. In a poll with over 11,000 respondents, the BlackBerry Torch just edged out the HTC Evo 4G with 4096 (34.96%) votes.

That’s the funnest thing I’ve heard all week. Even BB users think the Torch sucks.
Stupid comment as it obviously not true.
When it comes to BlackBerry users that were looking for the Torch to be more than a BlackBerry, you are absolutely right. I, myself am a member of this category and actually returned my Torch.
There are, however, a lot of first time BlackBerry users and whole lot of existing BlackBerry users that really do like the Torch and the numbers do reflect this…
Sounds a lot to me like all the editors and employees of LAPTOP MAGAZINE were given new Torch Blackberrys to try out. I’m among the many that eagerly awaited the Torch, and was sorely disappointed when it arrived at the mediocre specs.
Wake up, RIM!! Your target demographic is using Androids and other unmentionable devices!!
I like blackberry as much as the next guy, but this sounds a bit untrue based on info we have been seeing as of late. Even less likely being on only one carrier (which also has iPhone).
I have a friend who has been a long time iPhone user and swore it was the end all in smartphones. That said, he also just bought himself the Torch to see what Blackberry was all about.
I offered to walk him through the setup process and gave him a bit of a tutorial on everything I thought he needed to know about navigating and using the phones full list of options. I warned him before purchasing that it would be very different from the simplistic/ease of use the iPhone offered.
Happily though, he seems very excited with the Torch, even though it seemed complicated at first. He especially noted the high build quality and loved the depth of functionality compared to the iPhone. He almost (right there and then) relegated his iPhone4 as his secondary phone.
Let’s hope that Blackberry keeps winning over new AND old users with better hardware and software. I for one walked away feeling like he genuinely enjoyed his new device.
I really don’t see why people like the blackberry. My personal opinion is that it really sucks.
That is the point isn’t it. Their personal opinion, their personal choice. People are as entitled to like something you don’t and vice versa. Simply saying something is great or ‘sucks’ (in your case), without qualifying the remark makes you sound stupid. Have you owned or used the phone extensively? Brevity is always good though your two sentences amounted to contributing nothing useful to the discussion.
OH? Wow I guess. All righty then.
GOSH!
it seems to be so good
can you tel me its price ?
The smartphone market is developing, becoming more competitive and segmented with devices. I think the Torch is a brilliant device and integrates some of the most important features I was after.
1 – I need to send and receive a lot of emails. With my sausage fingers, I can’t stand using a touch screen, so I needed a keypad.
2 – I wanted a large screen to use applications and watch media on.
3 – Most of my friends and family also have a BB, so BB Messenger is perfect for non-obtrusive communication that escapes paying the phone operators.
It might not be the best at everything, but that’s not the point as more choices become available. It’s segmentation of their market to grab frustrated iPhone users who want more.
it look’s good so at the look of it, it will be great if it is mine.
