I was just reading BlackBerry Cool which lead me to a post on SmartPhone Today which is claiming that the term CrackBerry has won the John Wiley & Sons Webster’s New World College Dictionary Word-of-the-Year Contest.

For 2006, the lexicographers and researchers for the dictionary picked a word that not only defines the addictive nature of not just Research In Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry handhelds, but all smartphones, cell phones and PDAs that have come to integrate QWERTY thumb-keyboards and enable users to stay connected wherever they are, at all times.

I just did a search for the term CrackBerry here on RIMarkable and it showed up in 37 different posts over the last two years. That is almost 4% of the total posts that we’ve ever written.
