Here is a free BlackBerry game that quite honestly, may cause hours of lost productivity. BBTetris, originally coded for the Palm OS by author Jeremiah McLeod, aka, xdebugz. The BlackBerry version was ported by BlackBerry Guide member Andreas and can be downloaded for free here on BlackBerryGuide.com.

!!!!WARNING!!!!
something is wrong with this program! i installed it on my 7290 and it seemed to play okay, though the controls suck and everything is too wide.
about 3 hours later i tried to type in my password to check email and my BB crashed, with only a backlit blank screen. i pulled the battery to reboot it and it came back up.
30 minutes later i was prompted to “accept over the air password” to which i answered NO, of course.
I’D LIKE THE AUTHOR OF THIS PORT TO EXPLAIN WHY I WAS SUDDENLY PROMPTED TO CHANGE MY F*CKIN’ PASSWORD!!!
I suspect the worst – this game should be immediately PULLED from download until further testing is done.
I’ve been using and administering blackberries for around a year now and this has never happened before. If you install this app you do so at your own risk!
As the developer who ported this app I will respond:
bbtetris was extensively tested before it was published, this is the first time a crash has been blamed on it, and I’m not entirely sure how what you describe is possible.
The application makes use of the midp libraries and the BB keylistener library from RIM (to map buttons), however it never touches the BB datastore (where information is stored) or the networking API’s (it does no network-related tasks), so it simply doesn’t have the ability to change anything on your BB.
Also, RIM (maker of the BB) is very careful about what and how developers access their API’s, BBtetris makes use of only unlocked API’s (those which don’t require a license/compile key and are marked as safe to the device and your data by RIM). I simply cannot imagine a situation where this could occur.
The full source-code should be included in any download (unless it has been posted anywhere outside of BlackberryHowTo.com or Pinstack.com and someone has altered the zip-file), so the code can be verified.
All that being said: If bbtetris was the cause then I apologize, however I don’t see how that would be possible.
Thanks,
Andreas.
All that I can say is that I have not had a single issue with BBtetris since I installed it in October of last year, however, I cannot speak for anyone else. I can only give my opinion. It is a great game at an even better price.
I am a big fan of this game.. but some how the graphics do not seem exciting enough. i doubt i would buy it…
Note: This program is no longer available for download due to a request by the makers of Tetris.
Can someone post this link for download? The other links dont work!!!
It is no longer available…
