Buy.com has a new free BlackBerry 8700c offer similar to the one that they had a few months ago. This time, however, not only do you get a free BlackBerry 8700, you get a free Motorola HS820 Bluetooth Headset as well.
In order to get the free gear you must buy the BlackBerry 8700c for $299.99 along with a a 2 year Cingular service agreement of at least $39.99 per month and a compatible Data Connect or Xpress mail calling plan at $34.99 a month. You will get two $150 mail-in rebates that actually make you a penny on the whole deal.
Those mail in rebates are a joke. First, you have to wait 180 days for the rebate to even kick in…that’s half a year. Then most sites promise delivery of the rebate check in about 8 to 12 weeks. That’s another 2 to 3 months. So you won’t see your rebates for about 9 months…3/4 of a year.
That’s almost false advertising…it’s certainly misleading advertising. One, they hope that the customer will just forget about the rebate. Two, even if the customer files for the rebate, they get the use of the money for 9 months…that’s a big financial float.
If a business can’t sell you their merchandise with the discount already knocked off the price, or at least make the rebate available within a reasonable amount of time, like a few weeks, then the rebate is a joke.
Are you all stupid? do you want all this for free without investing at least some time? of course we would all be happy to pay $299 and next day having Blackberry knocking at our door with a $300 check in their hand, but is that posible….a perfect world!?!
