There are rumors floating around that the release of Facebook for BlackBerry version 1.8 is imminent. The version on BlackBerry App World and at http://www.blackberry.com/facebook is still 1.6, however, the chatter about 1.8 being release very soon (possibly today) is picking up.
If we hear anything, we will update this post. If you find out something first, leave a comment…
I hope it makes the app work better. I don’t know if it’s just me but I constantly have problems getting messages and status comments to load and it will just keep saying retrieving.
Well if u want it right now here’s the OTA link… don’t say i never gave u anything…LOL!!
OTA LINK: http://www.geekymojo.com/ota/Facebook18/FB.jad
follow these instructions and u’ll be good.
INSTRUCTIONS
This does appear to be the version in the Beta Zone since it requires a keycode but one of the posters in the groups page provided a workaround which actually works. Here are the steps:
-Make sure you have the latest official version of Facebook for Blackberry installed from blackberry.com/facebook.
-Download the Facebook beta app (links below).
-When the download is finished and you are prompted to reboot…DON’T.
-Press the red call button to escape to the homescreen.
-Go your Facebook app icon and click it.
-Accept the terms and go into the app.
-Once the app is running open the menu and select options then logout.
-Re-run the app and input your login credentials to access Facebook.
-Reboot your BlackBerry after the Facebook app fully loads.
Once your BlackBerry is up and running access the Facebook app again. It should now be version 1.8.0.31 without a keycode!
BB 8310 says ‘Download Failed’ ; 902 cod?
Idk what that means…I have OS 4.5 for my BB. Will FB 1.8 work for my BB?
I’m running 9700 w/ OS .862 worked like a charm
I dont get it. Everyone says that the version in App World is 1.6, but i’ve had 1.7.0.22 for the longest time?
I thought FB 1.8v was suppose to be out & available already…does anyone know anything about the time frame?
By the way, when I got the ‘Download Failed’ it was the ‘geek ota link’ that is on the Forum…
