Last night around 8:00 P.M. EST a massive system wide failure in the BlackBerry network may have affected BlackBerry users the entire Westeren Hemisphere and definitely those in the United States.
As of early this morning the BlackBerry Customer Support Center was playing the following message to BlackBerry users calling in to find out why they couldn’t send and recieve email.
Please be advised that we are currently experiencing service interruptions that are causing delays in sending and receiving messages.
We apologize for the inconvenience and will provide updates as soon as they become available.
Unfortunately, RIM doesn’t have a status page up letting the millions of BlackBerry users affected know whats going on. I am in Dallas this morning and seem to be getting messages, albeit, a lot slower than normal, however, reports are still coming in from folks who cannot send or recieve email, PIN messages, or use BlackBerry Messenger.
I am sure there will be many updates to this post so check the comments.
Live updates as they come in are at http://fiscaltimes.com/2007/04/17/massive-blackberry-system-failure/
Why does Western Hemisphere not include the western hemisphere?
That small continent over the water (that thing called Europe) had no issues whatsoever.
That is why i qualified this post by saying that the outage “may” have affected the the western hemisphere and definitely the U.S.
Anyway, it looks like most of the problems in the U.S. have been cleared up.
in Italy no problem today, and in spain too..
Los Angeles, CA – My txt msg and internet went down at 11:44 a.m. pst yesterday and still hasn’t come back up. However I can still send and receive emails through my other email accounts set up on my blackberry.
Maybe BlackBerryCool went down because of it.
