The New York Times has released a free, full fledged BlackBerry application sponsored by UPS.
Mobile continues to be a very popular way for Times readers to access our content,” Marc Frons, The New York Times Co.’s chief technology officer/digital operations, said in a statement. “With this new application for BlackBerry Smartphones, we are offering BlackBerry users with the latest models a faster, more dynamic and more personalized experience for reading up-to-the-minute news, analysis and opinion from NYTimes.com.
Developed in-house, the New York Times BlackBerry App formats content for optimal display on the BlackBerry and automatically synchronizes and stores data in memory for offline viewing. Available for the BlackBerry Tour, Bold, Curve 8900, and Storm, the New York Times BlackBerry App can be downloaded from http://www.nytimes.com/bbapp.

FYI, supported operating systems are “4.2.1 and above, up to but not including OS 5.0”
So thanks for releasing an app incompatible with the OS everyone should be running.
I’m glad to see newspapers embracing mobile devices and shedding their stereotype of always being behind the times.
App version 1.0.3 was running fine on OS 5.0. Then they “stopped supporting” 1.0.3, but 1.0.4 is not compatible with OS 5.0. It totally bogged down my device to a crawl, and it took me half a day to figure out this app was the problem!
Don’t you love it when the Nates of this world, running the latest unofficial operating system complain that applications don’t work on their system? What did you expect?
???? Running latest unofficial operating system. Dont be a Dunce KUMAR. Storm 2 runs it, officially out for Storm 1. ATT has it on Bold 9700 and T-mobile has it also for Bold 9700. and the up coming phones will have it. It became official first week of November.
I’m running v5.0.0.328 for my Storm 9530 that was pushed to my phone by Verizon earlier this month.
how about software to block the NYTimes … don’t need biased propoganda on my beloved Blackberry.
How about getting your facts straight before you post information! The freakin’ app is NOT available for the 5.0 operating system. Next time do your homework…this is flat out irritating!
