Not to be outdone by iHeartRadio which came out for the BlackBerry earlier in the week, Pandora has finally released an internet radio player for the BlackBerry this morning.
Pandora for BlackBerry is available on the BlackBerry Bold, Curve (not 8900), and Pearl. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work on T-Mobile branded devices. Hopefully it won’t be long before Pandora for BlackBerry is supported on the Storm, Curve 8900, and Curve 8350i.
Slacker and Flycast work on most devices on all carriers in case you have a newer BlackBerry or are on T-Mobile
If you aren’t on T-Mobile and are using a Pearl, Curve, or Bold, you can download Pandora for BlackBerry here.
YES!!! About Time!!!!!!!!! Woooooo!!!! *happy dance*
Yes I am that excited about Pandora coming to BlackBerry. And it’s funny because I actually wrote them an e-mail just last night asking them to make it available for blackberry and here it is…available for blackberry!
I like Slacker Radio don’t get me wrong, but it’s still a little too buggy for my curve (verizon) and pandora well…it’s just awesome haha.
wooo for pandora
I was getting the “Could not stream music. Please check network availability” message and a good old-fashioned battery pull did the trick. I have Pandora on the Storm 2.
Slacker has been recently updated… You might try the new version. I’m really liking it so far. At least the tracks don’t repeat every time the OS plays audio for alerts and such… Seems smoother, quicker and more stable now…
Well I guess I was too quick to jump hooray for pandora as the message to be received to get my dl link has not come and it has been a few hours. And I’m not the only one under the Verizon sun to have this problem…guess I’m going to have to wait a little bit longer….
As for Slacker Shadow, I had to take down my firewall, and then it worked, then today it’s not able to establish connection. And I had just downloaded it couple days ago so I’m under the impression that it is the newest version.
We will see then…pandora get on it por favor so I may compare xD
Ted,
Just head to http://www.pandora.com from your devices BlackBerry Browser. You can download directly from there.
Hey Robb,
thanks for the quick fix. and pandora is soooo much better than slacker in my opinion.
holla!
I downloaded this today (Verizon Pearl), when I try to connect, it says “Could not stream music, please check network availability”…any ideas? I have all my bars and it says 1XEV in the corner.
@Anothy
Check to see if your firewall is up. If it is, then disable it, and see if it works that way. Let me know how it goes.
Ted…how do I do that?
(I’m new at this)
@Anthony,
1.) Go to your options icon, click
2.) Scroll down to Security Options, click
3.) Scroll down to Firewall, click
4.) Change status from enabled to disabled, save
That should do the trick. You can then go back to your Pandora app and fire it up and it should just connect with no problem whatsoever.
Let me know if this helps!
Ted…it was disabled, but then I enabled it and switched it back and it worked. Thanks for the help!
Glad it worked!
Also can you post your personal experience and review of Pandora on BB?
I did like the music selection with Slacker, but Pandora is easier to access in my opinion.
Anyone else’s thoughts?
Thank god! I love pandora radio, much better than slacker! I heart radio is great too.
Question…for updates on these apps, is there any notification of these updates that they’re available or do you have to install it all over again? I’ve had my BB for about 4 days now so I’m a newbie. =)
As usual, another sweet app that is blocked by the IT settings on my BB. I’m on exchange server, and while I get my outlook which is nice, tons of stuff is restricted. I can only do slacker via WIFI, and I can’t even do Pandora on WIFI. Can’t do iheartradio either. Anyone know how to bypass these settings?! Man this is frustrating.
@Clint,
Clint you will have to disable your firewall on your phone. See above for instructions I gave to Anthony.
It is annoying, but that’s how it is unfortunately. Let me know how it goes.
Does any one know why Pandora doesnt work with the TMobile network? I downloaded it on my work BB and it work awesome! I am so happy. But needless to say i will not have this phone for long.
Pandora works perfectly on t-mobile 8100, 8120, 8320 and 8820- just not the 8900 yet.
Daniel – thanks for the info. Are there plans for the 8900? what is the hold up? That is the phone i am actually thinking about getting. Also when you download to your TMobile phone do you pick another carrier? TMobile is not on the list.
Hey. So for those of you who will inevitably receive the message “Could not stream music. Please check network availability.” Heres 2 ways to fix the problem.
1) As mentioned above disable the firewall
a.) Go to your options icon, click
b.) Scroll down to Security Options, click
c.) Scroll down to Firewall, click
d.) Change status from enabled to disabled, save
2) Edit Permissions (This is what i had to do)
a)Go to Options
b)Advanced Options
c)Applications
d) press the blackberry menu button on Pandora
e) t “Edit Permissions”
f) set all to “Allow” rather than prompt, deny or custom.
Enjoy!
That is for the Verizon Pearl 8130
Just fyi – I just put Pandora on my Curve 8900 with TMobile and it works fantastically 🙂
If alltel is my carrier do I select a different one? I didn’t see alltel as an option.
i have a t-mobile bb 8100 and pandora wont work! im being sent on a wild goose chase from the dl link from pandora to do a software update on t-mobile website but when i click to go there it says its not accessible from my device for some reason. 🙁 anyone else having these problems??
I have the BB Curve 8320 and Pandora worked on it for a few days and then suddenly stopped working. When I try to open it, It says Error occured while checking licensing. and then it’s just dead screen. anyone else having this problem?
Thanks
I have a Pearl and i had to go into application settings and change the Interaction setting to Allow before it would work. This app is sooooooo cool!
Just installed Pandora on my Pearl today. Had same issues with “Could not stream music…” Tried searching for the fix for awhile and after trying a few (that didn’t work) it finally does! Thanks to Matt M! Sooo excited =0]
Thanks so much! This worked for me too!
2) Edit Permissions (This is what i had to do)
a)Go to Options
b)Advanced Options
c)Applications
d) press the blackberry menu button on Pandora
e) t “Edit Permissions”
f) set all to “Allow” rather than prompt, deny or custom.
pandora works well with storm
I have tried all of the troubleshoots listed above and Pandora keeps telling me that I don’t have enough network coverage on my phone. I have a Blackberry Curve 8310 unlocked. It was previously a Centennial Wireless phone and they provided me with the unlock code and it is now on the AT&T network. Please help.
Thanks
Tamara
I have a blackberry storm in which I unlocked to use on tmobile. I have downloaded slacker, pandora and iheartradio. None of them work. Pandora gives a message of not enough signal or whatnot. Firewall is disabled, apn is set correctly. And I have a working browser. All service books were downloaded. I have no clue what’s wrong! Any help would be much appreciated.
Becky, I’m having the same exact problem. I hope someone can help us.
I had the storm on tmobile work with pandora for a short time. When I upgraded software it quit. Ice tried downgrading but still not working. I think its is because pandora uses tgr apn settings. Anyone can help?
I keep getting uncaught exception: object already exists. What does this mean?
does pandora work with only wifi? or does it require a data plan? cuz i downloaded it and the app just wont work!
