Is is just me or does it seem like RIM is doing a lot of advertising on the net lately? I have often been critical of BlackBerry advertising, or lack there of, by the folks up in Waterloo. It seemed as though the always relied on the carriers doing their advertising for them.
I have to admit, however, that BlackBerry ads that take you back to the BlackBerry site seem to be popping up just about everywhere lately.
Robb,
Not just on the net but RIM has really stepped up getting the BB’s into the spotlight. See them on posters in commuter trains, see them on posters on public phone booths. RIM also has a pretty cool and catchy TV spot for the Curve which is in rather heavy rotation.
Glad to see RIM is getting their own word out. Not relying just on the service providers to advertise the RIM BB’s is a great, and healthy step forward for RIM. Next stop IMO is a few well placed RIM factory stores giving customers a direct relationship with RIM for sales, service, and instruction.
Yeah the carries mostly push their flashy teenie bopper phones, while the BB are mostly ignored, except to business customers. The Pearl and Curve prove that RIM does not want to be pigeon holed into that segment only.
Actually RIM does not do a lot of advertising. Through working with their agencies I have found that the PROVIDERS, aka sprint, T-Mobile are doing all the advertising. I have not even been able to find a marketing or advertising contact for Blackberry Corporate.
