According to BGR, which is usually right about this kind of stuff, the BlackBerry 9000 will be officially announced by Research in Motion May 12th, the first day of WES down in Orlando Florida.
To be clear, the BlackBerry 9000 is being announced… Not released. If RIM follows suite, this thing will probably come out first on AT&T anywhere from a few weeks to a few months later.
Maybe we should go ahead and start the “How long with it take the BlackBerry 9000 to come out on Verizon?” thread now so we can get a jump start on what most probably will be a very popular post if past history is a good indication of things.
How long will it take for Vzw to get the 9000? I’ll go out on a limb and say about a year.
Well, you have to follow with the past BB’s. A year would be about the correct path according to our past experiences.
$5 says this blog isn’t nearly as popular as the one for the 8330. However props to Robb for his work, because since I scoured the web for the 8330 I’ve now been a devoted follower for the last 5 months.
So, all joking aside, Verizon Wireless won’t get this anytime soon, right?
Past history would suggest it won’t arrive on Vzw until this time next year.
I would say that we won’t see it for at least 6 months after we see it come out on AT&T and if I were going to bet, I would say closer to a year.
I just got the Curve, I really don’t want to put myself through that again!
Rumor already has it that VZW might be the first to grab this phone. But as all things are right now . . . it’s ONLY a rumor. Wouldn’t that be a predicament after so many of us just got the 8330!?!
I guess we’ll see what May 12th brings from WES
If RIM announced that VZW was getting the 9000 first on May 12, that would cause confusion, countless heart attacks for VZW customers, and the destruction of any lifecycle created and the crumbling of the entire cell phone industry. I personally wouldn’t be able to handle it.
However…I’m 99.99999% sure that would not be the case. Two reasons why. The eBay phone purchased and reviewed on Crackberry I believe required a SIM card to work. And most importantly, it’s VZW and new BB Model in the same sentance…just doesn’t jive.
I’d have to agree with the masses…it’s AT&T with VZW stroking it’s customers a year later.
I think it’s strange that they aren’t advertising that the curve is available for Verizon now. Suppose they had a deal with rim many many months ago, to produce a CDMA version of the curve (which has happened)…. But in that time, rim had also planned on producing a CDMA bb9000 along with the gsm version. Would Verizon hold off on ‘blow-out’ advertising for the curve when they know how close the launch is for the 9000? They would have a lot MORE pissed off customers who went out and purchased the curve because they saw a commercial for it.
Just a thought.
Okay…so I’ve had my Curve for 3 days and couldn’t be happier. Really, it’s far exceeded my lofty expectations. So what will the 9000 have that would make me want to switch?
ordered my 8330 friday, should arrive monday the 12th. i want to work from my front porch monday as not to miss fedex, ups, the red and yellow truck, WHOEVER delivers that baby!
