We’ve known for over a month now that Skype Mobile was coming to Verizon smartphones… We just didn’t know that date. Well, now we do. Skype Mobile will be landing on Verizon Android and BlackBerry devices Thursday, March 25th.
With Skype Mobile all Skype to Skype calls will be completely free not costing you any minutes on your Verizon plan. You will also be able to make less expensive international calls using the App. Skype Mobile initially will run on the following devices, although more devices are expected to be added to the list…
- BlackBerry Storm 9530
- BlackBerry Storm2
- BlackBerry Curve 8330
- BlackBerry Curve 8530
- BlackBerry Curve 8830 World Edition
- BlackBerry Tour 9630
- Motorola Droid
- HTC Droid Eris
- Motorola Devour
You should be able to download Skype Mobile from this link tomorrow… http://phones.verizonwireless.com/skypemobile/
Kind of funny that the Tour stands out in the picture, yet it can’t utilize the free unlimited VoIP calls over WiFi…since it doesn’t have WiFi. LOL. Perhaps someone from the technical teams for both companies should look at the marketing material before release.
Doesn’t work on my Verizon Tour, tells me the phone isn’t eligible even though it says it will run on my blackberry.
