Soon after we heard the first rumors of the the BlackBerry Colt, the device believed to be the first BBX BlackBerry, we heard that it would not support BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES).
If it weren’t for the fact that I have an 8 month old BlackBerry PlayBook sitting on my desk that still doesn’t have a native email client, the mere thought of a new BlackBerry that couldn’t get corporate email via BES would have been unthinkable. That current state of the BlackBerry PlayBook, however, made this rumor quite plausible.
We are now happy to report that the rumor of the first BBX BlackBerry not supporting BES has been debunked.
Alec Saunders, RIM’s vice president of Developer Relations and Ecosystem Development, told PCMag.com that the first BBX powered BlackBerry may not look like the BlackBerry Bold, but, it will support BlackBerry’s core enterprise email features.
Saunders also said that BBX BlackBerry Smartphones will have the same 1024 x 600 screen resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio as the BlackBerry PlayBook and that applications currently being built for the PlayBook will run on BBX BlackBerry devices…
