Verizon has just launched a new Buy One Get One (BOGO) sale on the Motorola Droid and the HTC Droid Eris. Each device will set you back $179.99 and $79.99 respectively, however, if you purchase one, you can get a second device for free… Along with a 2-year service agreement, of course.
I wonder if they are trying to move a bit of stock to make way for the Google Nexus One rumored to make its debut on Verizon by months end?

Not sure why they’d need to move Droids when the N1 will be sold directly from Google. Besides, they do these deals with all their phones. Smart maneuver to gain more market share vs. their competition (AT&T, etc.).
I have heard this rumor a few times and can only say it is a huge mistake if this is the route they take.
Rumor? Google is going to sell them directly. It’s their business model for the N1. Just began selling the AT&T version directly this AM. Not sure if it’s a mistake either. Selling a high end device on TMO is hard enough. Now that AT&T and eventually VZW are on board, we’ll see how it markets. The two things that does hurt the N1 and business model in sales is; 1) can’t touch/feel the device in person before buying, 2) the amount of Android based handsets out on the market…it’s saturated. But neither are a reason that would prevent me personally from getting one, just the wireless provider. VZW will change that.
Android devices are still overwhelmingly consumer devices. Unless Google is going to initiate the full marketing blitz, including TV and radio, they just aren’t going to make enough buzz with consumers that won’t buy a device sight unseen.
I am pretty sure, almost positive that the N1 will be sold in Verizon Stores, as well as Best Buy.
I can’t watch TV without seeing a Droid commercial. Didn’t the device out sell the iPhone’s initial device within the first 70+ days upon release?
Yes, it did…
It took 74 days for reach 1 million iPhones sold. 1.05 million Droids were sold in its first 74 days. The N1, on the other hand, only had device sales of 135,000 through day 74.
Granted, Google decided to go with T-Mobile for the launch of the Nexus One, but, it should have still done a let better than that. Google isn’t a wireless carrier. Put the Google Phone on Verizon Shelves, Radio Shack Shelves, in Best Buy, and in Wal-Mart and they will sell CDMA Nexus One devices like crazy…. If the don’t, the Droid will continue to reign supreme until the next carrier branded Android devices comes to replace it….
The only reason that the Droid outsold the iPhone in it’s first 74 days was because how many more subscribers Verizon had when they launched the Droid as compared AT&T when they launched the iPhone.
Thanks for letting us know that rulz, but, I have to ask… What, in the world, does that have to do with anything that was said here in this post?
