The upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider still needs a bit of polish around the edges, however, the new device and BlackBerry 6 look just about ready to go. As I’ve said before, BlackBerry 6 looks like it is designed to run on a BlackBerry with a Touchscreen. We know that 6 will run on the BlackBerry Bold 9700, Bold 9650, and the yet to be officially announced BlackBerry Clamshell 9670. I’m anxious to see BlackBerry 6 running on a device with a physical QWERTY keyboard only.

Call me crazy, but something tells me that AT&T ordered this device as an exclusive because they knew this will be the only new touch screen device running OS 6 for several months and almost everyone looking to buy a new device with a touch screen on AT&T will undoubtedly compare it to the iPhone…
This device, clearly, is no iPhone and I doubt many consumers looking to purchase their first smartphone would choose this over the iPhone4 at similar price points.
So, you are saying that AT&T ordered roughly a quarter billion dollars worth of Blackberry Sliders so that the iPhone 4 could look pretty next to it? That sounds like a genius idea to me…
Note to iPhone fanboys that read BlackBerry blogs… Not every post that has the word smartphone in it is about the iPhone.
Why so defensive? That sounded like a legitimate point to me.
Seriously?
You think that AT&T bought a million Sliders just so that they could make the iPhone 4 look better?
Apple purchased 10 million cdma iphones to be made…..because the iphone sucks on at&t…plain and simple….but google is taking the market share….and rim testing on their usual place at&t makes perfect sense. they are looking for speed testing on their os and internet….once it gets a pretty good review….it will be sent to other carriers, iphone 4 will only be purchased by stand alone apples…no new customers…people want the ipad, but that’s about it…..but this is just my opinion based upon my observations from my job (mobile sale)
You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting. Welcome to the new world…
One where you are knocked from your spot atop the smartphone totem pole by the likes of the iPhone, Android, and, dare I even say, Windows Phone 7.
Well, I have no intention on getting an iPhone because all of my friends are on BBM and I already have an iPod Touch. I was going to get a 9700 when the contract on my 9500 is up in July, but, I think I might give this a look. I reminds me of my roommates Palm Pre, but, a BlackBerry.
No 6 on the bold for a while…got confirmation from vzw and sprint reps…9800 will be the only blackberry running 6…for now….unfortunately…i think im jumping ship…feels like a divorce!!
goddamn you google and companion link with usb cable….
Wrong Intel TeddyB. 9550 and 9700 will be getting OS6 upgrades by the end of the 3rd quarter. They are the only BlackBerry getting it this year.
Well, it is looking better to me. Still have a few questions/concerns (looks a little laggy if it isn’t user error), but not too shabby so far. Curious as to how they got off the onscreen keyboard. Did it automatically go away after starting to use the physical keyboard?
