There is yet another BlackBerry outage affecting BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) users on all carriers. I love my BlackBerry and think that Research in Motion is a great company, however, 3 major service outages in less than a year is has moved beyond annoying and into the realm of incompetence.
If I were still running a NOC for a fortune 500 company and one of my a vendor had three outages of this magnitude in 6 months and promised it would never happen again after the first one…
Well, I am not saying, I am just saying… RIM must do better.
My toes are still tappin and my iPhone is still getting it’s fill of data. Lucky for the iPhone it doesn’t do something silly like rely on a single company for it’s data.
It’s working as usual here in Venezuela, my carrier is Movilnet (CDMA EvDO, former Verizon subsidiary)
Sorry but you need to get your facts right. When your bb stops working, it is not necessarily RIM that is down. The outages that you are referring to were not all RIM-related, the wireless provider your bb is tied to may have been the one experiencing the issues. Ask them. Today for example, there was a massive Cingular outage, this was not RIM’s outage.
My toes are still tappin and my VZW 7130e is still getting it’s fill of data. Lucky for me it has true push email from Exchange.
No problems here in Australia. My understanding is that there are currently two RIM relays. One in Canada & one in the USA. Over the past twelve months I have heard of outages but they have not effected our services here in Australia.
Besides i wouldn’t call 3 outages in 12 months a catastrophe. That’s the nature of the technology beast (even with redundant architecture in place to fail over services). As they say, $h1t happens.
I just don’t think it’s logical for a company to promise that something like a technology malfunction will never happen again. Just admit you were at fault and swear you’ll do better next time.
No issues with Tmob. Data and emails are running fine, and have been all day. Not a BB issue if it’s just a single carrier.
If, as you say, this was a BIS problem then anyone on a BES won’t be affected and surely any Fortune 500 would be running a BES?
If it is a NOC problem then that would affect all. However, it’s ok in the UK. I think that Europe has it’s own NOC.

My BIS works and I’m with Rogers…
It was a RIM issue and not a carrier issue. Confirmed reports of all 4 major carriers in the US effected, so don’t be jumping on his back saying it was just a carrier issue.
Probably RIM’s way of saying “F You” to all of us who got our 8320’s before the official 24th launch date!
Carriers effected: ALL
Fix ETA: N/A
Email Accounts Effected: 3rd party emails: Gmail/Yahoo/Hotmail/Comcast/etc
Email Accounts NOT Effected: blackberry.net
Addtional Services Effected: POSSIBLY Data browsing, BlackBerry Messenger, 3rd party apps that rely on data.
RIM constantly has issues with BIS, it goes down almost on a daily basis for at least an hour (most people probably wouldn’t notice it).
I agree rim does need to do something like spread out their data centres to help with issues such as these and other outages that happened in the past.
